The Mystery of the Smells and Apparitions in Mas Torrencito (final)

The night progressed and we all tried to relax, although the wet footprints and Lolo’s strange behavior intrigued us. The Mystery of the Smells and Apparitions in Mas Torrencito

Lourdes continued to pamper her little Yorkshire, and the clients, although a little tense, tried to convince themselves that everything had a rational explanation.

Suddenly, Oliver got up from the sofa with a surprised expression and pointed to a small shadow that slipped between the legs of the dining room table.

Wait… is that… a cat? he asked, blinking, while the small figure stopped short and watched us with bright eyes.

We turned to see what Oliver had pointed out, and there it was: a stray cat, with gray fur and a sly look, watching us with disdain from under the table. He was a thin and agile cat, who seemed to have found in Mas Torrencito the perfect place for a dinner… and a little entertainment.

The invading cat of Mas Torrencito

Mas Torrencito: cuando ser petfriendly también significa ser energéticamente responsable ☀️🐾

Mireia and I approached slowly, and the cat, upon discovering it, made a quick jump and hid behind the sofa. Lourdes exclaimed, with a nervous laugh:

– So this is the true culprit of all this night!

Isa, who was watching the scene with an amused smile, nodded.

– Of course, I’m sure this kitten has been going in and out of the house without us noticing. And Lolo… well, I’m sure he’s been following him.

Suddenly, everything started to make sense. The cat had been prowling the house since early, causing Lolo and the other dogs to chase him around every corner. The wet footprints we had seen on the ground were nothing more than the trail they had both left in their little game of «hide and seek».

Mireia laughed, now more relaxed, and turned towards me.

– So, all this was because of a cat that found its paradise in Mas Torrencito!

The stray cat was looking at us from its hiding place, probably feeling very proud to have pawed the quiet night of the house. Lolo, seeing that everyone was waiting for the cat, began to bark again, clearly upset for having lost the spotlight. Lourdes couldn’t help but laugh.

– Come on, Lolo! Did you also want to cause a «mysterious night»?

Release the tension

Oliver and Lucy, delighted with the outcome, began to take pictures of the cat and Lolo. Everyone started joking about the «legend of the ghost cat of Mas Torrencito» and the night brought back that warm and relaxed atmosphere.

To end the situation, the cat, with the same calm with which it had entered, came out of the hiding place and walked slowly towards the door, giving us one last defiant look, as if saying: «I’ll be back».

Seeing him leave, Isa joked:

—It seems that in the end, the cat only came to make sure that Mas Torrencito is of good quality. Even he approved it!

While laughter filled the room and Lolo finally settled into Lourdes’ lap, the fog outside began to clear. The cat disappeared into the darkness, and with it, the feeling of restlessness that had marked the night.

Peace Returned .

A la mañana siguiente, Mas Torrencito a peaceful dawn. The customers were laughingly commenting on the events of the previous night, and Mireia and I were finally able to relax. The tourists, Oliver and Lucy, took pictures of the farmhouse and promised to return for «more adventures».

Finally, Mas Torrencito recovered its usual tranquility… or at least until a new guest, human or animal, decided to bring a touch of chaos again.

From Mas Torrencito we wish you a HAPPY THURSDAY!!! and may your dogs accompany you!!!!

🌿 Sustainability, wellbeing and a pet-friendly spirit at Mas Torrencito
At Mas Torrencito, we understand sustainability as something inseparable from the wellbeing of people… and their dogs. We live surrounded by nature and share our space with animals every day, so caring for the environment is not an option: it is part of our way of life.

For this reason, we are committed to a model of conscious, efficient and deeply pet-friendly rural tourism, where technology, respect for the environment and living alongside pets go hand in hand.

☀️ Solar energy produced on site

We have a photovoltaic installation consisting of:

🔹 72 solar panels
🔹 Individual panel power: 450 W
🔹 Total installed capacity: ~32.4 kWp

Thanks to the high level of solar radiation in the Empordà, this system allows an estimated annual production of between 50,000 and 55,000 kWh, covering a very significant part of the accommodation’s energy consumption.

➡️ A large part of the energy used to heat water, light the rooms and provide comfort for guests and pets is generated directly at the farmhouse.

🔋 Batteries to make the most of every ray of sunshine

Solar energy is complemented by an energy storage system with:

🔹 40 kWh in batteries
🔹 Use of surplus energy
🔹 Use of self-generated energy during the night

This allows us to:

reduce dependence on the grid,
minimise consumption peaks,
and ensure a more stable energy supply, even during periods of high occupancy (when dogs and people are enjoying themselves to the fullest 🐶😄).

🌡️ Efficient thermal comfort (aerothermal system)

The climate control at Mas Torrencito is provided by aerothermal technology, a highly efficient and environmentally friendly system that offers:

lower energy consumption,
reduced emissions,
stable and comfortable temperatures all year round.

Ideal for people to feel comfortable… and for dogs to sleep peacefully, without excessive heat or cold.

💧 Responsible water use

We use greywater recycling systems, reusing water from showers and washbasins for other non-potable purposes.

In a rural setting, every drop counts, especially when there are gardens, green areas and happy dogs running around.

♻️ Recycling and responsible waste management

We promote a conscious approach to waste management through:

selective waste separation,
reduction of plastics,
responsible use of cleaning products and consumables.

All with the aim of maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for people and pets.

🐾 Rural tourism with meaning (and with paw prints)

Mas Torrencito is:

a rural retreat where dogs are part of the family,
a project that cares for the natural environment,
and a place where sustainability and pet-friendly values are not labels, but a daily reality.

Because we believe there is no better rural tourism than one that respects nature… and those who enjoy it on four paws 🐕💚
