How many dogs you must have???? jajajajajajajajajaj

Good question… philosophical, scientific and furiously emotional. 😄 The short answer: as many as you can fit in your heart (and on the couch). 🐶💕

But if we get more serious (although not too serious), here are some thoughts:

🧠 Dog Equilibrium Theory

  • 1 dog: basic happiness guaranteed. Love, companionship and hair on clothes.
  • 2 dogs: twice the joy, twice the mischief. They keep each other company. You also double your expenses… but what about love, it doubles too!
  • 3 dogs: you already have a mini-manada. There are hierarchies, internal gossip and possibly a reality show in the evenings.
  • 4 or more: you have crossed the line. Welcome to paradise or chaos. It all depends on your level of zen and whether you have an industrial vacuum cleaner.

🧘‍♀️ Canine Happiness Theory

Happiness does not depend on the exact number, but on the connection with them.
You can have one and be immensely happy. Or have five and feel like you’re living in heaven… or in an episode of The 101 Dalmatians: Out of Control Edition.

🐾 In summary:

There is no magic number, but there is an unwritten rule:

«It’s never too much of a dog if your soul smiles when you see them running.»

Now, how many do you have, or how many would you like to have? 😏

My honest advice and with all the furry love in the world:

👉 Two dogs.

Why is that?

🐶 + 🐶 = 🧡

  • Mutual companionship: when you are not there, they keep each other company. They understand each other’s language, smell each other’s soul, push each other to sleep together.
  • They learn from each other: if one is calmer and the other crazier, they balance each other out (or they rub off on each other… but hey, that’s also part of the charm 😅).
  • The human breathes easier: you don’t feel guilty when you leave, because you know he is not left alone.
  • It’s not as chaotic as having 3 or more, but you already have that herd feeling that makes the house have another energy.

Of course, it’s no good having two if you can’t give them time, attention and adventurous walks. If you can take care of two with quality, you are doing great. If not, one well cared for dog is worth more than five emotionally abandoned ones.

Now… if you live in Mas Torrencito, like certain Miguels I know 👀… there is no limit. There it is measured in units of love, not in numbers! 🐕🐩🐕‍🦺🐾

How many do you have, and how many do you think is your happiness number?

🐾 Reflection: The perfect number of happy paws

We live in an era where everything is measured: time, likes, steps you take per day… but there is something that does not fit in graphs or statistics:
the happiness that a dog gives.

And yes, we could try to define how many dogs a person needs to be happy, but that would be like asking how many hugs are needed to feel loved…
Sometimes one is enough. Sometimes it takes two. Sometimes a whole house full of paws, slobber and tails waving like flags of joy.

A dog not only gives you company.
It gives you routine without boredom.
It gives you love without conditions.
It gives you an excuse to go for a walk when your soul doesn’t want to move.

To have one is a gift.
To have two is a shared blessing.
To have more… is already a vocation, a controlled rampage and a master’s degree in emotional management (and hair on the carpet).

But be careful: it’s not about accumulating dogs like someone who collects figurines. It’s about sharing life, time and love.
Because a dog doesn’t need luxury, he just needs your presence.
And you… you just need to watch him sleep to know that it’s all worth it.

So maybe the real question is not how many dogs you should have, but:

are you willing to let a dog (or two, or three) teach you how to be a better person?

Because they do not come to complicate your life.
They come to remind you that everything important fits in a look, a walk, and a lick to the soul.

🐶❤️

🌿 Sustainability, wellbeing and a pet-friendly spirit at Mas Torrencito
At Mas Torrencito, we understand sustainability as something inseparable from the wellbeing of people… and their dogs. We live surrounded by nature and share our space with animals every day, so caring for the environment is not an option: it is part of our way of life.

For this reason, we are committed to a model of conscious, efficient and deeply pet-friendly rural tourism, where technology, respect for the environment and living alongside pets go hand in hand.

☀️ Solar energy produced on site

We have a photovoltaic installation consisting of:

🔹 72 solar panels
🔹 Individual panel power: 450 W
🔹 Total installed capacity: ~32.4 kWp

Thanks to the high level of solar radiation in the Empordà, this system allows an estimated annual production of between 50,000 and 55,000 kWh, covering a very significant part of the accommodation’s energy consumption.

➡️ A large part of the energy used to heat water, light the rooms and provide comfort for guests and pets is generated directly at the farmhouse.

🔋 Batteries to make the most of every ray of sunshine

Solar energy is complemented by an energy storage system with:

🔹 40 kWh in batteries
🔹 Use of surplus energy
🔹 Use of self-generated energy during the night

This allows us to:

reduce dependence on the grid,
minimise consumption peaks,
and ensure a more stable energy supply, even during periods of high occupancy (when dogs and people are enjoying themselves to the fullest 🐶😄).

🌡️ Efficient thermal comfort (aerothermal system)

The climate control at Mas Torrencito is provided by aerothermal technology, a highly efficient and environmentally friendly system that offers:

lower energy consumption,
reduced emissions,
stable and comfortable temperatures all year round.

Ideal for people to feel comfortable… and for dogs to sleep peacefully, without excessive heat or cold.

💧 Responsible water use

We use greywater recycling systems, reusing water from showers and washbasins for other non-potable purposes.

In a rural setting, every drop counts, especially when there are gardens, green areas and happy dogs running around.

♻️ Recycling and responsible waste management

We promote a conscious approach to waste management through:

selective waste separation,
reduction of plastics,
responsible use of cleaning products and consumables.

All with the aim of maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for people and pets.

🐾 Rural tourism with meaning (and with paw prints)

Mas Torrencito is:

a rural retreat where dogs are part of the family,
a project that cares for the natural environment,
and a place where sustainability and pet-friendly values are not labels, but a daily reality.

Because we believe there is no better rural tourism than one that respects nature… and those who enjoy it on four paws 🐕💚
