All is well…????

There are days when you wake up and think, «Is this for real or am I waking up inside a badly told cosmic joke?»

Because lately, between news saturation, absurd prices and collective passivity, I have the feeling that I am watching the end of a series that started as a comedy and ended as a psychological thriller.

Corruption at its best, without limits, without shame, and in all colors of the political spectrum. Government after government, each one with its own particular dirty war, as if being the most scurrilous was an achievement. Meanwhile, criminals walk free, calm, even with airs of influencers. And the judicial system… better not to talk about it. A nonsense so blatant that even the memes fall short.

And then there are the prices – oh, the prices! Going to buy bread has become an act of courage. You get to the supermarket, you see that there are two loaves left, you grab one quickly, as if it were gold, and at the cash register they tell you: «3,85€». For a bread that is not even crunchy. You don’t know whether to bite into it or ask for marriage to justify the expense.

Buying a new car is another league. Everything has gone up at least 6,000 euros and nobody explains why. It is simply «what there is». And if you don’t like it, tough luck, pay or walk.

But what already borders on the absurd, what really makes me scream silently inside… is that I HAVE FOUR DOGS.

Yes, you read that right: four. Four beautiful, loyal, adorable furry ones… and each with their own annual budget higher than that of a college student. Because now having a dog is not having a pet: it’s having a mortgage with legs.

An example: a Bravecto tablet to prevent fleas from eating them. 40 euros. Per dog. FORTY. And not content with that, they plug in a 21% VAT, as if I were buying a jewel instead of trying to keep my dog from ending up as a free buffet for bugs. Seriously, pets still have the same VAT rate as a luxury watch? Who would think of that?

And mind you, I’m not talking about whims. I’m not buying them Gucci sneakers or diamond necklaces. I’m talking about basic things: deworming, decent feed, a visit to the vet without a kidney falling out from fright.

Meanwhile, the geniuses of the world are still there: Trump saying whatever he wants and Elon Musk playing Tony Stark but without filter or editing. All in an increasingly ridiculous reality, where the logical is the weird and the absurd is the new normal.

And the people… nothing. Quiet. Putting up with it. As if all this were part of the package of living in the 21st century. Nobody protests, nobody raises their voice. They have put us in a slow cooker and we don’t even notice the heat.

So yes. All good, all right…
And me with four dogs.

REFLECTION

We live in a society that is broken inside, but still smiles for the pictures.

We have been taught to keep quiet, to put up with, to pay without complaining. To swallow our frustration as if it were part of our daily menu. To normalize the absurd: that a pill for your dog costs the same as a decent dinner. That bread is almost a luxury. That having a decent roof over our heads seems a privilege, not a right.

They want us calm, entertained, with our heads down. Distracted by screens while reality bites at our heels. And the worst thing is that they are succeeding.

Prices go up, empathy goes down. Corruption is blatant, justice is selective. The system does not protect, it squeezes. And if you protest, you are an exaggerator. If you complain, you’re a whiner. If you think, a problem.

Owning a dog should be a joy, not a financial burden. But even that has been tainted. They’ve turned it into another business, another tax, another way of reminding you that nothing is free, not even affection.

And yet, we continue. Because we love them. Because we don’t give up completely. Because there are still things -and beings- worth fighting for a little longer.

But let us not confuse resistance with submission.

Because keeping quiet is not maturity. To put up with is not normal. And living in fear of the price of the next purchase is not life.

This is not sustainability.
This is abuse with WiFi.

And it’s about time to stop pretending that everything is fine.

🌿 Sustainability, wellbeing and a pet-friendly spirit at Mas Torrencito
At Mas Torrencito, we understand sustainability as something inseparable from the wellbeing of people… and their dogs. We live surrounded by nature and share our space with animals every day, so caring for the environment is not an option: it is part of our way of life.

For this reason, we are committed to a model of conscious, efficient and deeply pet-friendly rural tourism, where technology, respect for the environment and living alongside pets go hand in hand.

☀️ Solar energy produced on site

We have a photovoltaic installation consisting of:

🔹 72 solar panels
🔹 Individual panel power: 450 W
🔹 Total installed capacity: ~32.4 kWp

Thanks to the high level of solar radiation in the Empordà, this system allows an estimated annual production of between 50,000 and 55,000 kWh, covering a very significant part of the accommodation’s energy consumption.

➡️ A large part of the energy used to heat water, light the rooms and provide comfort for guests and pets is generated directly at the farmhouse.

🔋 Batteries to make the most of every ray of sunshine

Solar energy is complemented by an energy storage system with:

🔹 40 kWh in batteries
🔹 Use of surplus energy
🔹 Use of self-generated energy during the night

This allows us to:

reduce dependence on the grid,
minimise consumption peaks,
and ensure a more stable energy supply, even during periods of high occupancy (when dogs and people are enjoying themselves to the fullest 🐶😄).

🌡️ Efficient thermal comfort (aerothermal system)

The climate control at Mas Torrencito is provided by aerothermal technology, a highly efficient and environmentally friendly system that offers:

lower energy consumption,
reduced emissions,
stable and comfortable temperatures all year round.

Ideal for people to feel comfortable… and for dogs to sleep peacefully, without excessive heat or cold.

💧 Responsible water use

We use greywater recycling systems, reusing water from showers and washbasins for other non-potable purposes.

In a rural setting, every drop counts, especially when there are gardens, green areas and happy dogs running around.

♻️ Recycling and responsible waste management

We promote a conscious approach to waste management through:

selective waste separation,
reduction of plastics,
responsible use of cleaning products and consumables.

All with the aim of maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for people and pets.

🐾 Rural tourism with meaning (and with paw prints)

Mas Torrencito is:

a rural retreat where dogs are part of the family,
a project that cares for the natural environment,
and a place where sustainability and pet-friendly values are not labels, but a daily reality.

Because we believe there is no better rural tourism than one that respects nature… and those who enjoy it on four paws 🐕💚
