We are going crazy! by MasTorrencito

Really, what kind of society are we building? What a stress! 😵 I really feel lucky to live where I live, because my goodness… and I only went to Girona, I didn’t even go to Barcelona, I don’t even want to imagine the chaos there. I don’t even want to imagine the chaos there, we are going crazy! by MasTorrencito

I tell you my odyssey. Yesterday I had to go to Girona to get some papers from the notary. I, who am more of village than poppies 🌾, always try to park comfortably, that is, either in a parking lot or in a blue zone with at least three free spaces. No complicated maneuvers or leaving the car in a double row. I park badly, admittedly, and I don’t want to bother or stress anyone.

Well, I get to the parking lot and, as usual, I go up to the top floor. It’s my tactic: park next to the door so I don’t lose the car (which won’t be the first or the last time I lose it 😅). I find a perfect spot and I’m about to park when suddenly….

Peiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! 🚨 What’s wrong? An energumeno appears out of nowhere, beeping as if he were going to be run over. I turn around and there he is, red with rage, shouting and gesticulating like a madman. I, with my best face of peace and love ✌️, raise my hands and tell him to calm down. And I even ask for forgiveness! I back up so as not to argue and the guy parks almost skidding. I move three meters away and look around: there are SIX empty spaces. SIX! You explain this bad temper to me. But well, there he goes with his anger.

I finish parking, get out and go to the notary’s office. I’m walking calmly when suddenly… OSTISSSSSSSS! 😱 I get a flash: I’ve left the car unlocked and with the keys inside! As usual. I live in my bubble of tranquility and I’m not in the habit of locking the car. I run back and, luckily, it’s still there. I lock it, take the keys and take a deep breath.

I keep walking and suddenly, without warning, a lady bumps into me. She was carrying a cute little dog 🐶, but also a cell phone in her hand. And on top of that she says «LOOK WHERE YOU’RE GOING». My face must have been a poem. But well, with my best education, I apologize and continue on my way.

I arrive at the notary’s office, go up to the fifth floor. I’m about to enter the elevator and a lady with five bags appears and slips in mercilessly. I can’t fit any more. Nothing, I wait for the next one. Nothing happens, my life is not at stake. I go down, pay the parking… and 9 eurazos for 20 minutes! 😵 My God, what life costs in the city.

I leave the parking lot, I go through the Devesa and suddenly…. PIIIIIIIII PIIIIIIIIIIII PIIIIIIIIII! 🚗💨 What’s going on now?! I look and I see another stressed out guy giving me the slipstream to go faster. But let’s see, we are in the city. I continue at my own pace. I get to a traffic light that starts to turn amber and, as I have an electric car, I accelerate a little to pass it. niauuummmm!

But of course, the stressed one follows me. He overtakes me, stands next to me, staring at me, trying to get me to look back at him in order to…. Insult me? Challenge me? I don’t know. But I don’t pay any attention. I pick up the phone and pretend to talk. The traffic light turns green and the guy takes off. 20 meters later, I see a Mossos motorcycle signaling him to pull over. And I pass by him looking at him with a smirk on my face. It’s a miracle I didn’t comb him.

I finally leave Girona and when I’m about to join the AP7, another car overtakes me at full speed and closes me. So nothing, we will go by the national road… chino chano.

I get home, get out of the car, leave it with the keys inside and the doors open (as usual), and suddenly, my little ones appear: Masto, Mky, Mastitwo and Mamás. They jump on me as if I had been away for a month. Hugs, kisses, caresses? peace at last! And after such a day of madness, I poured myself a beer, sat down, Txarango was playing and I relaxed. And I thought… my God, what my friends must go through every day in those damn cities… every day…

Because, really, what kind of world do we live in? Everyone is in a hurry, in a hurry, in a bad mood? And the worst thing is that this stress is free. Or at least that’s what I think.

Let’s reflect: life is too short to go around angry. Relax a little, people! 🌿🍺

And YOU… what do you think? ??????

🌿 Sustainability, wellbeing and a pet-friendly spirit at Mas Torrencito
At Mas Torrencito, we understand sustainability as something inseparable from the wellbeing of people… and their dogs. We live surrounded by nature and share our space with animals every day, so caring for the environment is not an option: it is part of our way of life.

For this reason, we are committed to a model of conscious, efficient and deeply pet-friendly rural tourism, where technology, respect for the environment and living alongside pets go hand in hand.

☀️ Solar energy produced on site

We have a photovoltaic installation consisting of:

🔹 72 solar panels
🔹 Individual panel power: 450 W
🔹 Total installed capacity: ~32.4 kWp

Thanks to the high level of solar radiation in the Empordà, this system allows an estimated annual production of between 50,000 and 55,000 kWh, covering a very significant part of the accommodation’s energy consumption.

➡️ A large part of the energy used to heat water, light the rooms and provide comfort for guests and pets is generated directly at the farmhouse.

🔋 Batteries to make the most of every ray of sunshine

Solar energy is complemented by an energy storage system with:

🔹 40 kWh in batteries
🔹 Use of surplus energy
🔹 Use of self-generated energy during the night

This allows us to:

reduce dependence on the grid,
minimise consumption peaks,
and ensure a more stable energy supply, even during periods of high occupancy (when dogs and people are enjoying themselves to the fullest 🐶😄).

🌡️ Efficient thermal comfort (aerothermal system)

The climate control at Mas Torrencito is provided by aerothermal technology, a highly efficient and environmentally friendly system that offers:

lower energy consumption,
reduced emissions,
stable and comfortable temperatures all year round.

Ideal for people to feel comfortable… and for dogs to sleep peacefully, without excessive heat or cold.

💧 Responsible water use

We use greywater recycling systems, reusing water from showers and washbasins for other non-potable purposes.

In a rural setting, every drop counts, especially when there are gardens, green areas and happy dogs running around.

♻️ Recycling and responsible waste management

We promote a conscious approach to waste management through:

selective waste separation,
reduction of plastics,
responsible use of cleaning products and consumables.

All with the aim of maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for people and pets.

🐾 Rural tourism with meaning (and with paw prints)

Mas Torrencito is:

a rural retreat where dogs are part of the family,
a project that cares for the natural environment,
and a place where sustainability and pet-friendly values are not labels, but a daily reality.

Because we believe there is no better rural tourism than one that respects nature… and those who enjoy it on four paws 🐕💚
