The rules are… to avoid fools

Norms and Common Sense in Mas Torrencito

The Temptation of Darles Comida a los Perros

In Mas Torrencito, it’s a recurring theme: don’t feed the dogs in the dining room . And it is that, although we explain it many times, there are visitors who think that, if a dog stares at them with those irresistible eyes, it is because it is hungry. Nothing could be further from the truth! Our dogs are perfectly fed. What do they want? Well, like good canines, what they really want is what is not dirty . If they have the opportunity to try something different, something from another dog’s plate or, even better, something from the human table… they will do it without hesitation!

The Rules Are To Be Respected

So that there are no misunderstandings, in Mas Torrencito we have very clear signs that say: «Please do not give food to the dogs.» But there is always someone who thinks they can skip the rules. Do you remember that lady who insisted on feeding her dog under the table? Although we kindly explained it to her, and the other customers reminded her of the rules, she kept to hers. In the end, what happened? What we all expected! Chaos ensued in the dining room, with the other dogs approaching to investigate and defend their «territory», and she ended up angry… with the other dogs!

Let’s see, lady, if you’ve been warned and you do what you want… don’t be surprised if the marimorena is armed. This is not your house, where you can keep your dog in your lap if you like. Here, at Mas Torrencito, we respect the rules so that everyone, dogs and people, can enjoy a peaceful environment.

The Balls and Frisbees on the Terrace, Another Recurring Story

And it’s not just the food, there are also frisbees and balls on the terrace! Miguel, my dear owner, has them strictly prohibited in that area. There is a whole open field to play and run, but even so there are those who insist on playing on the terrace, as if the rules did not apply to them. And then, of course, comes the moment when they complain because the dogs «get nervous» or are «too territorial» with their toys.

Manuela : «Dear humans, it is not difficult to understand. The rules exist to guarantee the peace and safety of all, both those who want to play and those who prefer to rest. It’s not that we’re aggressive, it’s that we need space and respect.»

Basic Rules for Living Together: Respect is the Key

Friends, the message is clear and simple: when you visit a place with specific rules, respect them . If you don’t like those rules, look for another site that fits your preferences. But please don’t bother or make those who are complying with what is being asked uncomfortable.

Manuela : “Who agrees with me? Because, in the end, the rules are not there to limit, but so that we can all enjoy in harmony. We respect everyone’s space and well-being! Because if I’ve learned something at Mas Torrencito, it’s that living well in community means following basic rules. And if we all do our part, the enjoyment is for all!”

From Mas Torrencito we wish you a good day and may your dog accompany you!!!!

🌿 Sustainability, wellbeing and a pet-friendly spirit at Mas Torrencito
At Mas Torrencito, we understand sustainability as something inseparable from the wellbeing of people… and their dogs. We live surrounded by nature and share our space with animals every day, so caring for the environment is not an option: it is part of our way of life.

For this reason, we are committed to a model of conscious, efficient and deeply pet-friendly rural tourism, where technology, respect for the environment and living alongside pets go hand in hand.

☀️ Solar energy produced on site

We have a photovoltaic installation consisting of:

🔹 72 solar panels
🔹 Individual panel power: 450 W
🔹 Total installed capacity: ~32.4 kWp

Thanks to the high level of solar radiation in the Empordà, this system allows an estimated annual production of between 50,000 and 55,000 kWh, covering a very significant part of the accommodation’s energy consumption.

➡️ A large part of the energy used to heat water, light the rooms and provide comfort for guests and pets is generated directly at the farmhouse.

🔋 Batteries to make the most of every ray of sunshine

Solar energy is complemented by an energy storage system with:

🔹 40 kWh in batteries
🔹 Use of surplus energy
🔹 Use of self-generated energy during the night

This allows us to:

reduce dependence on the grid,
minimise consumption peaks,
and ensure a more stable energy supply, even during periods of high occupancy (when dogs and people are enjoying themselves to the fullest 🐶😄).

🌡️ Efficient thermal comfort (aerothermal system)

The climate control at Mas Torrencito is provided by aerothermal technology, a highly efficient and environmentally friendly system that offers:

lower energy consumption,
reduced emissions,
stable and comfortable temperatures all year round.

Ideal for people to feel comfortable… and for dogs to sleep peacefully, without excessive heat or cold.

💧 Responsible water use

We use greywater recycling systems, reusing water from showers and washbasins for other non-potable purposes.

In a rural setting, every drop counts, especially when there are gardens, green areas and happy dogs running around.

♻️ Recycling and responsible waste management

We promote a conscious approach to waste management through:

selective waste separation,
reduction of plastics,
responsible use of cleaning products and consumables.

All with the aim of maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for people and pets.

🐾 Rural tourism with meaning (and with paw prints)

Mas Torrencito is:

a rural retreat where dogs are part of the family,
a project that cares for the natural environment,
and a place where sustainability and pet-friendly values are not labels, but a daily reality.

Because we believe there is no better rural tourism than one that respects nature… and those who enjoy it on four paws 🐕💚
