15 things dogs love

Surely you know your dog very well, but have you ever stopped to think about what he likes the most? We bring you some of the most common tastes. 15 things dogs love

Dogs are very special animals and quite transparent and expressive. It is relatively easy to guess what is going on with them and how they are feeling. However, it is always good to know what they really like and what they hate in order to make them happier as much as we can.

The behavior, characteristics and in general the psychological traits of dogs are increasingly the subject of scientific studies. For example, a study conducted by the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 2017 concluded that dogs distinguish human emotions, as each one is represented in their brain, and specifically the one they distinguish best is happiness.

This is how they perceive our emotions and act accordingly. Surely at some time, when you have felt sad or very happy, your dog has reciprocated by cheering you up or trying to comfort you… It’s no coincidence!

Communication with our dog, therefore, is very important. We must make an effort to make our facial expressions clear to him, as well as use body language to communicate with him. Although he understands us, he is not a fortune teller; be patient, especially during the first weeks at home, a fundamental moment to establish the basis of your relationship.

The tone of voice also influences. Dogs are quite guided by the expressiveness of our voice, because so many years of domestication have taught them that it is a good method to understand us. It seems that, according to a study carried out by the Eötvös Lorand University in Budapest, dogs’ brains process language in two hemispheres. In one, verbal language, and in the other, non-verbal language (i.e. tone of voice and gestures), in much the same way as our brains do. That is why they are able to perceive not only what we say to them, but also the intonations with which we address them. And that’s why they pick up on our moods so well.

But, for a good communication and a good relationship with our dogs, it is essential to know what they love and what they hate. Therefore, we bring you some of their favorite actions, for you to keep in mind.

Being the center of attention. 15 things dogs love.

Almost all dogs, in general, love to be part of a group and be the center of attention. I’m sure your dog enjoys it very much when you bring friends or family home and everyone gives him a cuddle.

Making «doggy» friends

You must keep in mind that your dog does not only need your company, he also needs to socialize with other dogs. Therefore, on your walks, frequent parks, squares… where he can come into contact with his own kind and make friends.

Your bed, the sofa… 15 things dogs love.

You may have noticed that they love to sleep in anything other than their bed, and if possible with you. This will depend on the rules you establish at home, but usually they love to take little naps in places that smell like you, such as the sofa or an armchair.

Preparing your bed

Surely you have noticed how, before going to sleep, your dog turns several times in his bed, and even places his blanket with his paw to his liking. This is his way of «making his bed».

Cuddles and caresses

This is no secret: most dogs love cuddling and being pampered by their family. The key is to find a balance between cuddling and the necessary discipline.

Exercise…

… especially if it’s with you. Dogs love to spend time in our company and what better way to do that than a run, a hike or a swim.

Taking your things away from you

You already know that your dog loves anything that smells like you, especially when you are not at home. Therefore, it is common for him to «steal» clothes or shoes from you to get your attention and to have something that reminds him of you. You can solve this by giving him an old t-shirt or something similar so he can keep it on his bed and not be tempted to take anything.

New toys

It doesn’t fail, no matter how many toys our dog has, he will always welcome a new knot or ball and will not let go for a few days.

Stimuli and challenges

Dogs can easily get bored if they are not stimulated by new challenges, especially the more active ones. Taking them to practice agility, including them (as much as possible) in some of our plans or taking a trip to the beach can be good options.

Travel

Although dogs are creatures of habit, they also appreciate a change of scenery and environment, with new places and smells to explore. Now that it is easier and easier to travel with them, you can take them with you. You’ll both have a great time.

Eat

Eating is probably one of dogs’ favorite things to do. But, …….

🌿 Sustainability, wellbeing and a pet-friendly spirit at Mas Torrencito
At Mas Torrencito, we understand sustainability as something inseparable from the wellbeing of people… and their dogs. We live surrounded by nature and share our space with animals every day, so caring for the environment is not an option: it is part of our way of life.

For this reason, we are committed to a model of conscious, efficient and deeply pet-friendly rural tourism, where technology, respect for the environment and living alongside pets go hand in hand.

☀️ Solar energy produced on site

We have a photovoltaic installation consisting of:

🔹 72 solar panels
🔹 Individual panel power: 450 W
🔹 Total installed capacity: ~32.4 kWp

Thanks to the high level of solar radiation in the Empordà, this system allows an estimated annual production of between 50,000 and 55,000 kWh, covering a very significant part of the accommodation’s energy consumption.

➡️ A large part of the energy used to heat water, light the rooms and provide comfort for guests and pets is generated directly at the farmhouse.

🔋 Batteries to make the most of every ray of sunshine

Solar energy is complemented by an energy storage system with:

🔹 40 kWh in batteries
🔹 Use of surplus energy
🔹 Use of self-generated energy during the night

This allows us to:

reduce dependence on the grid,
minimise consumption peaks,
and ensure a more stable energy supply, even during periods of high occupancy (when dogs and people are enjoying themselves to the fullest 🐶😄).

🌡️ Efficient thermal comfort (aerothermal system)

The climate control at Mas Torrencito is provided by aerothermal technology, a highly efficient and environmentally friendly system that offers:

lower energy consumption,
reduced emissions,
stable and comfortable temperatures all year round.

Ideal for people to feel comfortable… and for dogs to sleep peacefully, without excessive heat or cold.

💧 Responsible water use

We use greywater recycling systems, reusing water from showers and washbasins for other non-potable purposes.

In a rural setting, every drop counts, especially when there are gardens, green areas and happy dogs running around.

♻️ Recycling and responsible waste management

We promote a conscious approach to waste management through:

selective waste separation,
reduction of plastics,
responsible use of cleaning products and consumables.

All with the aim of maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for people and pets.

🐾 Rural tourism with meaning (and with paw prints)

Mas Torrencito is:

a rural retreat where dogs are part of the family,
a project that cares for the natural environment,
and a place where sustainability and pet-friendly values are not labels, but a daily reality.

Because we believe there is no better rural tourism than one that respects nature… and those who enjoy it on four paws 🐕💚
