🚀 Day 0: The Travelers’ Party Apocalypse 📝

Today, friends, the new travelers’ reportofficially begins… and I only tell you one thing: this is going to be a journey worthy of Odyssey, but without ships, with a tablet and with many, MANY tourists who are going to look at me with a «What are you telling me, buddy?» look on their faces 😵‍💫. Day 0: The Travelers’ Party Apocalypse

I’m telling you right now: we’re going to get the shit kicked out of us on the first try. Literally. Because this is not a couple of polite questions: Your name? Passport? NO, GENTLEMEN! This is a full-fledged interrogation. Almost 40 questions 😱. Yes, 40 between the reservation data and the client’s data. And they have removed some of them…. What if the relationship with your travel partner, what if your current address, what if the passport number, the support, blood type, the brand of shampoo you use …. Well, maybe not the last one, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

🏨 Welcome to the Hotel de Paso… o del Infierno (Hotel of Hell)

I work in a rural cottage, MasTorrencito, and now in winter we have a lot of foreigners passing through, like most of those who host foreigners around here. What does this mean? Well, people arrive at night, have a drink, sleep and the next morning they are out the door at 7, 5 or 9 o’clock. Do you think anyone is going to have the patience to fill out such a form before leaving? 😂 And you better hope that 2 or 3 of them don’t join you to check out…

To avoid catastrophe, I bought a tablet 💻. In theory, the idea was that they would fill it in by themselves, without me having to chase them around the hotel with a pen and paper. But come on, I can already see the tablet flying out of the window when someone doesn’t understand the «updated address of residence» on the third try.

🤯 And Now Explain This in Russian, German, Dutch…

Let’s see, how do you explain to a Russian, a Dutchman or an Italian that, as of today, in Spain we need all these data? HUH? HOW? Because when I was asking for their passport until yesterday, they looked at me funny, like I was asking for their Netflix password. And I was thinking: «But what’s the matter, that other places don’t ask you or what? 🤨

Some of them even got angry with me, but I don’t understand the logic. If they travel to other countries and are also asked for it, what on earth surprises them here? But be careful, when they cross the yellow door of Mastorrencito, it seems that the laws of the universe change and that no document is needed here. Spoiler: as of today, it is, and 40 times more.

🇫🇷 The French and their Pizzeria DNI

I can’t fail to mention the French. My goodness, they carry an ID card the size of a pizzeria sale sign. Big, huge, a mammoth impossible to fit in any scanner. But the best thing is not that… It never expired! 😂

Until last year, there were people with photos of 40 years ago in the DNI. I have a friend who has already retired and his document still shows him as 20 years old. But what is this? An identity card or a time capsule?

🚨 Conclusion: It’s going to be a circus.

So nothing, friends. Today promises a lot. I see myself taking shortcuts and more shortcuts because if not, this is getting out of hand. And I don’t even want to imagine the 70 year old rural tourism farmers trying to understand this form.

Tomorrow I’ll tell you how the disaster went. If I’m still alive. 😅

From MasTorrencito we wish you a good day and may your dogs be with you!!!!

🌿 Sustainability, wellbeing and a pet-friendly spirit at Mas Torrencito
At Mas Torrencito, we understand sustainability as something inseparable from the wellbeing of people… and their dogs. We live surrounded by nature and share our space with animals every day, so caring for the environment is not an option: it is part of our way of life.

For this reason, we are committed to a model of conscious, efficient and deeply pet-friendly rural tourism, where technology, respect for the environment and living alongside pets go hand in hand.

☀️ Solar energy produced on site

We have a photovoltaic installation consisting of:

🔹 72 solar panels
🔹 Individual panel power: 450 W
🔹 Total installed capacity: ~32.4 kWp

Thanks to the high level of solar radiation in the Empordà, this system allows an estimated annual production of between 50,000 and 55,000 kWh, covering a very significant part of the accommodation’s energy consumption.

➡️ A large part of the energy used to heat water, light the rooms and provide comfort for guests and pets is generated directly at the farmhouse.

🔋 Batteries to make the most of every ray of sunshine

Solar energy is complemented by an energy storage system with:

🔹 40 kWh in batteries
🔹 Use of surplus energy
🔹 Use of self-generated energy during the night

This allows us to:

reduce dependence on the grid,
minimise consumption peaks,
and ensure a more stable energy supply, even during periods of high occupancy (when dogs and people are enjoying themselves to the fullest 🐶😄).

🌡️ Efficient thermal comfort (aerothermal system)

The climate control at Mas Torrencito is provided by aerothermal technology, a highly efficient and environmentally friendly system that offers:

lower energy consumption,
reduced emissions,
stable and comfortable temperatures all year round.

Ideal for people to feel comfortable… and for dogs to sleep peacefully, without excessive heat or cold.

💧 Responsible water use

We use greywater recycling systems, reusing water from showers and washbasins for other non-potable purposes.

In a rural setting, every drop counts, especially when there are gardens, green areas and happy dogs running around.

♻️ Recycling and responsible waste management

We promote a conscious approach to waste management through:

selective waste separation,
reduction of plastics,
responsible use of cleaning products and consumables.

All with the aim of maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for people and pets.

🐾 Rural tourism with meaning (and with paw prints)

Mas Torrencito is:

a rural retreat where dogs are part of the family,
a project that cares for the natural environment,
and a place where sustainability and pet-friendly values are not labels, but a daily reality.

Because we believe there is no better rural tourism than one that respects nature… and those who enjoy it on four paws 🐕💚
