As you know, in Mas Torrencito we do raffles all year round. A few, not few. That if stays for you and your furry 🐶, that if unique experiences to disconnect during the week …. we go, great gifts designed for people who love dogs, tranquility and things well done. ❤️ By the way, today we would like to thank all the participants of the @mastorrencito raffle with @Travelguau and congratulate @Vicky.vic.84, the winner, who won 4 nights in MasTorrencito for this summer…

Well, a few days ago … the phone rings 📞

Hello, is this Mas Torrencito?
-Yes, tell me
-Look, I’m the winner of the draw for the two nights’ accommodation…
-Ah, congratulations! 🥳
-Yes… you see… it’s just that I can’t go and I don’t like dogs very much, the truth is …., so… Can you make me a Bizum for the value of the prize?

I’m sorry. WHAT?

Just like that, like someone asking for change for bread. Without mussing your hair. Pim pam. «Hey, I can’t go, so pass me the dough.» 🤑

Let’s see, my dear:
This is not The Price is Right.
It’s not a scratch card from the tobacco store.
It’s not a Zara gift voucher.
IT’S A DRAW!!! And the prize is an experience, not money.

I explain to him, very politely, that no… that the prize is not exchanged for money, nor for vouchers, nor for likes, nor for caresses. That if he can’t come, well, hey, he’s sorry and he loses it. And that’s it. 🤷‍♂️

But hold on… he says to me:

HOW?!!!!!!

If he can sell it, he says. As if it were a microwave.
And then, I swear, the vein in my forehead swelled up like a fairground balloon. 🎈

I told him very clearly NO.
❌ That the awards are NOT transferable.
❌ If she doesn’t come, no one else can come.
❌ It’s not Wallapop or TicketSwap or anything like that.

And then it starts:
-This is a scam!
-I’m going to denounce you in networks!
-I’m going to put it everywhere!
-You are thieves!

And I already, with all the peace I had left in my body, I told him:

-Look, do one thing…
-What?
-Fuckit.
And I hung up on him.

Since then, no complaint, no publication, no nothing. One of two things: either he got over his anger, or he realized he was making a fool of himself.

And all this makes me think… 🤔

People who participate without knowing what they are participating in: STOP NOW! 🚫

If you see that the prize is a two-night stay during the week, in a pet friendly accommodation, surrounded by nature, designed to disconnect … and you neither can, nor want, nor like dogs ….

DON’T PARTICIPATE, DAMMIT! 😤

Because there are many people who DO want it. Who DO get excited. Who DO take advantage of it. And you’re taking it away from them by filling out a form without looking. 😩

And this goes also for those who then want to change the dates, bring more people, bring the brother-in-law, the children, the in-laws, the cat, the canary… NO, AMIGA, NO!
It is for two people, in a double room, with their dogs. Point. 🐾

🤡 The golden era of «I participate for the sake of participating» (and if I win, I’ll see what I do).

We live in wonderful times. Times in which people do not read, do not listen, do not understand? but participate. Because why get informed when you can click like a trained chimpanzee and expect a stay in Tuscany, a Thermomix or a house on the beach to fall from the sky? 🧠✨

But of course, then comes the script twist:
«Have I won two nights in a rural accommodation to go with my dogs?»
– I don’t have a dog.
– I work during the week.
– I just wanted to win something, anything.
– Will you make me a Bizum?

And therein lies the heart of modern drama: people who are used to everything being tailored to their whim, even if they have no idea what they are asking for. Or worse: people who think they can participate in anything because, «I’ll figure out how to fix it if I win».

Hey, you got a Baltic cruise and you have vertigo, salt allergy and motion sickness?
NOTHING HAPPENS: sell it, exchange it, auction it on Wallapop or tell the organizer to transfer you the equivalent in fuel. 🚢💸

Of course, who do you think you are to give a prize that cannot be monetized? A romantic of emotional bartering? An idealist of experiences?
Please. This is Instagram, not Heidi’s house.

The fault, in part, lies with ourselves: we have become accustomed to giving good things away and assuming that everyone understands what «non-transferable,» «for two people,» «midweek,» or – get this – «accompanied by dogs» means. 🐕‍🦺

But no. It is too much to ask.

Because in the parallel universe where some people live, everything is negotiable: rules, dates, logic… even common sense. And if you tell them no, they get offended. They call you a scammer. They threaten you with social networks (where there are already more prosecutors than influencers). And you, who just wanted to give away something nice, end up telling them: «fuck it». And hanging up. ☎️

Satirical moral of the day:
If you are going to participate in a raffle without even knowing what it is, at least have the decency not to win. Because we already have enough with bills without having to do basic pedagogy with confused adults who believe that a prize is a Corte Inglés gift card.

And if it’s your turn and you can’t enjoy it, the only thing you have to do is a very difficult thing to do in this day and age:

Resign with dignity.

That, to this day, is worth more than the prize.
