📞 First contact:
– Hey, can I go for just one night but with full board?

– No, it’s two nights, during the week, accommodation only, as it said in the draw. – It’s just that I’m not doing well… – Then we’ll give it to someone else, that’s all right. – But I got it… – And you got… just that: two nights, accommodation only, midweek… 😉

– What if I change it to the weekend? – It is not possible. The prize is on weekdays. – Sure, but I work… – I guess, like almost everyone else. But those were the conditions.
– Can I do just one night then? – Yes, you can. – Great. And could it be in summer? – No. In the bases are specified the available dates (which do not include summer, long weekends, Christmas, Easter… or what everyone usually wants 😂).

– Okay… and on Sunday X? – Perfect. No problem. Send me a WhatsApp with the photo of the voucher, your data and the date. And I will confirm the reservation.
📩 Send it to me. Confirmation sent. All good… until the day arrives.
🎭 They appear. She, dressed in white as if for a photo shoot in Santorini. He, in «spontaneous influencer» mode. And then…
🔌 I look and see that he has plugged in the electric car without warning. Curious detail.
I open the app and discreetly stop the upload. I introduce myself, explain everything, give them a superior room (because it was Sunday, and because I’m a good person 😇), and notice that «we’re not saying anything, but we’re slightly disappointed we’re not at the Ritz» attitude.
Everything was fine, until my four-legged hosts Mastitwo, Masto and Maky arrived. 🐶🐶🐶
And then panic sets in:
– Oh, please! What are these dogs doing here? Get them off me! – Excuse me… these dogs live here. – It’s just that my wife has a phobia of them… – I understand… but then I find it hard to understand why she participated in a raffle at an animal fair, to stay in one of the most pet-friendly houses in existence, where dogs are loose everywhere, even in common areas.
– We didn’t know… – Well, look, it’s all quite detailed. In the rules, on the website, in the spirit of the contest itself. It’s not a surprise.
I turn around, smile, and go about my business, hoping that maybe, just maybe… they will decide to leave. But no. They remain 🫠
And how could it be otherwise, Menganito returns with his next concern: – Hey, the car doesn’t charge me… – Have you activated the payment? – Isn’t it free? – No. But if you want, I can reactivate it and then you can pay with the app. – Oh, no, no, I’ll look for a free one…
And so on, throughout their stay. Until, finally, they left. And with all the kindness in the world, I hope they don’t come back. Never. Never.
