The insomnia of some and the anger of others by MasTorrencito

When other people’s insomnia becomes your problem (or why you shouldn’t call at 2:30 a.m.)

The night was at its peak. Silence enveloped the house like a warm blanket. Outside, there was only the sound of the wind rustling through the trees and the occasional off-key cricket that seemed to have had more coffee than necessary. 🌙

I was sleeping peacefully, hugging my pillow with the serenity of someone who has worked all day and only expects one thing from life at that moment: to rest. Until suddenly…

📞 RIIING.

One ring.

📞 RIIING.

Two rings.

📞 RIIING.

Three rings.

I open one eye with the speed and enthusiasm of a sloth after eating. Who the hell is calling at this hour? My mind was still in airplane mode. The shock hit me in the chest as if I had just been given an electric shock. Because of course, if someone calls you at 2:30 in the morning and insists, it’s because something serious has happened.

Is there a fire? An accident? A family member in the emergency room? Has World War III broken out and I don’t know about it?

With my heart in my mouth, I blindly fumble with the phone on my bedside table. The brightness of the screen dazzles me as if it were the sun itself and, blinking like a mole fresh from its burrow, I see an unknown number.

I take a deep breath. If they call at this hour, it’s important.

But something tells me no.

I decide not to answer. I place the cell phone face down and try to dive back into my sweet, well-deserved sleep. But I don’t. Because they call again.

📞 RIIING.

📞 RIIING.

📞 RIIING.

Ah, no, this is already an attack. My cell phone, which has the «If they call you three times in a row, it’s an emergency» system activated, decides that this is a matter of life and death and wham! it breaks my «Do Not Disturb» mode.

With my brain already running at half throttle, I sit up in bed, glance at the screen and think: «I hope this is important, because if not, someone is going to know the dark side of my patience…»

I answer.

Yes… (voice from beyond the grave, worthy of a séance).

On the other side, a silence. A throat clearing. And then…

Hello… good evening… eh… I wanted to know if there are really no places left for Sant Joan, because in the planning it says that there are not, but I wanted to confirm…

I am in shock. I can’t process what I just heard.

My mind takes a second to connect the neurons. Really? Did they wake me up for this?

I look at the clock. 2:34 a.m.

This is not real. This is a social experiment. It has to be.

Because, let’s see… I understand that people have doubts about a reservation. I understand that. But is it necessary to call at 2:30 in the morning to ask? 🤨

A tense silence falls over the phone. I rub my face with one hand, take a deep breath and, in an act of supreme maturity, hang up without saying a word.

With the satisfaction of having made the best decision for my peace of mind, I turn off the screen and settle back on my pillow. I try to go back to sleep.

But of course, there’s no way. My brain is lit up like a neon in Las Vegas.

🌪️ Who in their right mind does this? Do people think this is a hotel with a 24-hour front desk? Have we lost our common sense? Why does everyone want things on the spot and can’t wait? 🌪️

In the end, I see that it is already 4:30 in the morning and that the battle is lost. I get up, make myself a cup of coffee and the light bulb goes on.

«What if I call you back?»

Yes, I know. It’s not the mature thing to do. But I’m not Gandhi either and, at this point, my sense of humor is running in «passive-aggressive revenge» mode.

I grab my cell phone, look up the number and, with a mischievous smile, dial.

📞 RIIING…

📞 RIIING…

📞 RIIING…

At the third tone, a confused voice responds, swept away by sleep:

Hello…?

And I, with all the calmness and gentleness in the world, let him go:

Hello, good morning. ☀️

How… (He clearly doesn’t know what’s going on).

Yes, that’s right, good morning. I’m Miguel, from Mastorrencito. I just got three calls from you at 2:30 in the morning and I wanted to know if a relative had died or something like that…

Silence.

Hesitation on the other end of the line.

I just… I just… I didn’t realize what time it was… I’ll call you back.

And bam, he hangs up on me.

And me, so happy. 😌

Conclusion:
If you don’t want to get a payback, think twice before calling someone at 2:30 in the morning.
And above all, if they tell you that there are no places in the schedule… trust the schedule. 😂

From MasTorrencito we wish you a good day and may your dogs be with you!!!!

🌿 Sostenibilitat, benestar i esperit petfriendly a Mas Torrencito

☀️ Energia solar produïda a casa

temperatura estable i confortable tot l’any.
